Create Your Own Interactive Quiz with Quick Quiz!

One of the exciting new features available to LearningPlanet.com subscribers is the ability to create online, interactive quizzes based on virtually any subject or topic.

These quizzes are fun to use because they present multiple-choice questions to the student in a lively, interactive manner. They provide immediate feedback to the student, allowing him/her to know the correct answer when an incorrect choice is made. They also give the student a final score at the end of the quiz.

Although creating a Quick Quiz takes a bit of an investment of time on the part of the parent or teacher, the results are well worth it. Each quiz created by a user is stored for that user in the "My Stuff" area, and can be accessed at any time. The quiz can be assigned to any student, and the results of the quiz are reported on the student scores page.

Creating a Quick Quiz

The interactive tool which is used to create a Quick Quiz is extremely easy to use, and should allow just about anyone to create a useful quiz in a matter of minutes. The instructions are simple and straightforward, and the tool guides you step-by-step through the entire process.

The first step is to organize your content, and decide on the scope of the quiz. By limiting the quiz to cover a specific topic, you can more easily create your questions, and the score given to the student who takes your quiz will be more meaningful.

You create each question in the quiz by clicking the Add button and typing the question, the correct answer, and one or more "distractors" or incorrect answers. You may create as many questions as you wish. When you finish adding questions, click the Next> button.

You must now decide how many questions your quiz will present to the student. By default the quiz will ask all of the questions in your question bank. You may, however, set the number of questions smaller than the size of your question bank, and the quiz will randomly choose the questions to present to the student. If you want your quiz to be used over and over again, create a large bank of questions, and make your quiz present a small number of those questions.

Finally, give your quiz a title, a short description, and optionally add any keywords you may wish to use when later attempting to find this quiz. These items help you better recognize the quiz in the resource listing.

When you click the Save button, the quiz will be created and stored in your "My Stuff" area.

Using a Quick Quiz With Your Students

Once you've created a quiz, you may assign it to your students using the Assign button located next to the quiz. Your students will not have access to the quiz unless it has been assigned.

If you make a "Do Once" assignment, the student will be able to complete the quiz one time, and the assignment will be removed when the quiz has been completed. The results of the quiz are stored, and you can see how the student performed on the quiz. You may assign a quiz as many times as you wish.
